Historical Overview:

The Char B1 was a French heavy tank developed during the interwar period and widely used during the early stages of World War II. Designed as a breakthrough tank, the Char B1 combined heavy armor protection with powerful weaponry, making it one of the most advanced and heavily armored tanks of its time.

Development of the Char B1 began in the 1920s as part of France’s effort to create a heavily protected combat vehicle capable of supporting infantry assaults and breaking through fortified enemy positions.
